SYF 2018 Youth All-Star Games

(8U, 10U, 12U levels)


This event provides a showcase for the top SYF athletes to participate in post-season all-star games.

Roster Size and Player Selections

  • The SYF teams will be divided up into two divisions (North Blue and South Red)
  • Each member team may nominate up to two more players per level than the number of wins as of the October 6th standings, complete the attached player nomination application. Team with “0” wins will nominate one player
  • Each team will nominate and rank each player.􏰀Not all players nominated will be selected. However, the top player from each team will be guaranteed a spot on the all-star team with the balance of the roster filled by the SYF based on team position needs and a “round-table” discussion process with all of the head coaches.
  • Cheer will follow the same nominating process as football
  • Rosters will be finalized on October 17th during a “round-table” meeting with all of the head coaches between 7:00-8:00pm at the Ben Ali Center. Each program should send one coach only for each level (3 coaches per program)


Player Requirements

  • $35 per player fee (covers Jersey cost / Cheer bag / bow) is required for each player to participate, due at the end of the mtg. on the 17th from each team participating.
  • Players must be able to make a commitment to attend all practices and the game.
  • Players will attend the Youth Shrine Bowl, with game jersey; scheduled on November 19th at Sacramento City College (Hughes Stadium) 4pm kick off. Players will be able to attend the Youth Shrine Bowl for free and will participate in a half-time ceremony/parade and be recognized.
  • Any player that fails to meet the above requirements will not be allowed to participate in any practices or the all-star game.

Equipment and Uniforms

  • SYF will provide game jerseys and of Cheer Bows / Bags (players will be able to keep). Items will not be issued to players who have not completed and made commitments to all player requirements noted above.
  • Players will need to provide their own solid white game/practice pants/ socks and use each member’s equipment (helmets, shoulder pads, etc.).


Coach Selections

  • Each program will have the opportunity to nominate volunteer coaches (head and assistants) by completing the attached coaching application. The SYF will select the head coach and the head coach will be able to provide input on the selection of assistance coaches from the available applicants (subject to SYF approval).
  • Only one coach, from each member team, is allowed on each roster.
  • Nominated coaches must be SYF certified prior to the start of the regular season.
  • Each team will have one head coach and up to 5 assistant coaches.
  • Practice Schedule
  • Practice will be on TBD (Monday – Thursday)
  • Practices will be limited to two hours per day
  • Practice times tentatively from 6-8pm
  • Practice Locations TBD

Special Game Rules

  • Each team will be required to start 11 different players on offensive and defense.
  • Players that do not start on offensive or defense will start on all special teams.
  • Players will play either on offensive or defense. No player will be allowed to play both offense and defense.
  • No blitzing on defense, maximum six man front with all LB starting each play 3 yard off the line of scrimmage.

Game Day and Location

  • All games will be played at TBD
  • 8U Div.1&2 9am, 8U Div.3&4 11am, 10U Div.1&2 1pm., Div.3&4 3pm, 12U Div.1&2 5pm & 12U Div.3&4 7pm.
